The Saskatchewan Boreal Forest Learning Centre is a dynamic community that offers opportunities for personal experiences and meaningful connections towards respect for the biodiversity for our forest eco systems.
Our Saskatchewan Boreal Forest Learning Centre organization has worked to bring our collective vision towards realization in several ways. We have created 20 kilometers of trails at Ness Creek, in Northern Saskatchewan, so that when individuals visit our forest site they can explore and appreciate nature's wonders through hiking and cross-country skiing. Also, along these trails artwork is featured in the form of large interpretive signs made by local artists.
In addition to these exciting efforts, each year we host numerous student outdoor camping programs at Ness Creek. They are given the opportunity to explore their own appreciation and understanding of ecology. In these programs, students learn about boreal forest plants and animals, are exposed to Aboriginal history and culture, and also have the opportunity to make art in the form of handicrafts and writing.
We want to build communities within nature.
We believe that connecting people to the natural and cultural wonders of the boreal forest fosters personal growth and reflective learning while encouraging respect for this great ecosystem that requires stewardship and protection in our province.
